LAKE HAVASU CITY

Gov. Jan Brewer has offered her support to the new 1,200-megawatt Sterling Solar Facility near Lake Havasu City. Brewer received a presentation on the new project March 4.
According to a news release from Sterling, Brewer expressed interest in the 1,500 construction jobs and 75-125 permanent jobs the project would create. The project would add approximately $6 million to the county's property tax base and generate $240 million in state sales tax. It would also use less than 500 acre-feet of water per year.
Sterling applied to Western Area Power Administration on March 3 for access to local transmission lines.
