KINGMAN - No arrests have yet been made in the April 12 shooting death of 37-year-old Christopher Gillespie.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating the murder, has also not formally named any suspects in the incident. Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said the case is still open and under investigation.

Gillespie was shot to death some time before 9 p.m. April 12 in the desert off of Old Trails Road near the second black railroad bridge.

Old Trails Road runs parallel to the portion of Historic Route 66 that breaks off at Andy Devine Avenue and Beale Street.

Gillespie had driven to the scene with two other individuals, including his 23-year-old girlfriend.

Carter said that as they were getting out of the truck, Gillespie was shot multiple times with a high-powered rifle by at least one unknown person.

The girlfriend, identified as Dana Schick, reported the incident to authorities after getting a ride into town from the other individual, 35-year-old Norman Corley. Both were interviewed by detectives but have not been identified as suspects.

At the time of his death, Gillespie was separated from his wife, Jenifer Gillespie.

Last week would have been their 15th Wedding Anniversary, she said. The couple have three children, ages 14, 10 and 2.

Jenifer Gillespie said she has been told little about what happened that night. She said she's never gotten a call from detectives on the case, and when she calls them, they tell her there's nothing new to report.

She said it's hard not having any answers to give her children, especially her 10-year-old son, who has taken his father's death the hardest.

Christopher and Jenifer met in high school in Phelan, Calif., in San Bernardino County. The pair lived in Kingman off and on several times before relocating here from Orlando, Fla., about 4 ½ years ago.

Christopher's mom, Debbie, also lives in Kingman.

Jenifer described Christopher as a funny, outgoing guy and a good father.

"Anybody that met him really liked him," she said.

The Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in the case. Anyone with information should contact Detective Steve Parker at Mohave County Sheriff's Office at (928) 753-0753 or Mohave Silent Witness at (928) 753-1234.

Yes something is NOT adding up here and that something is ..... someone is playing god and taking the lives of others and apparently getting away with it. But are they really?? what do you think they are living with on a daily basis? Maybe we will never know their punisment but Im pretty sure that Karma will make them pay somehow someway......

They say if you want to kill someone, Mohave County is the place to do it. The detectives never figure anything out. A friend was killed in Dolan Springs while we were still in high school. They never figured out who did it.

@Highly Amused

"They're just not talking."

Agreed. The story made me curious, so I looked up all involved in public court records. They are all there, mostly minor stuff, some not so minor. I did notice that Corley and Shick are tied together on one of them that also mentions a search warrant.

But yeah, they ain't talking.

@Really Confused

I was too, at first. But rereading the line "Gillespie had driven to the scene with two other individuals, including his 23-year-old girlfriend." makes me think the writer was saying the girlfriend was one of the two individuals.

Maybe something needs to be done about Old Trails Road and especially the dirt road that branches off near the second black railroad trestle. It's a well-known hotbed for criminal activity. It's also a dumping grounds for a lot of the stolen vehicles and other property in Kingman.

I found a car that had been driven off a cliff in the area and reported it to MSCO who declined to investigate. Does that give you a clue?

I think they need to look more into the people who were there. They had something to do with it. How could some random person just shoot this guy!!! Its fishy and Kingman Detectives need to look into it further....

This is confusing, the article states Gillespie had driven to the scene with two other individuals, then it says his "girlfirend" got a ride back with the other individual. If my math is correct that would be the 2 other individuals and if he was shot as he got out of the truck, was someone else there and hiding, something isn't adding up here.
