The long-vacant commercial building that once housed Blockbuster Video on Stockton Hill Road won't be empty much longer.

"We're under construction as we speak," said Daniel Fenn of Phoenix-based DG Fenn Management. "We hope to open by the end of April or the first part of May. It's full steam ahead."

Chipotle Mexican Grill and Five Guys Burgers and Fries will be dual tenants inside the building, which will undergo extensive renovations inside and out. H&H Development Inc., of Kingman is the general contractor.

"When we're done, it will look like a completely new building," Fenn told the Daily Miner last August when plans were unveiled.

The prime location on Stockton Hill Road between Walgreens and McDonald's should bode well for the tenants as well as people on the hunt for a convenient place to dine. According to Richard Hamilton, owner of H&H Development, Chipotle's will take up about 2,200 square feet on the north side of the building and the 2,500 square feet required by Five Guys will be on the south end.

Negotiations are under way with two other vendors for the remaining 1,200 square feet of available space, Hamilton said.

Things are looking up here in the middle of the desert. Love, love, mexican food and and a burger now and then. Of course In and Out is the best burger place in town but now we have more options. I would love to have a Trader Joe and Red Lobster but I can wait....Olive Garden is good too!

@Jis Me Yea, the food is pretty tasty at the hospital. Just not healthy. Everything is fried or deep fried. Well you can get a salad and even do a couple pieces of fruit if you want to pay twice as much to eat healthy at the place that should encourage healthy eating.

Five Guys' website says the customer can put all the hamburger toppings on their burger that they want. The only competition they'll have on that is the KRMC cafeteria. With their limited lunch hours and parking issues, it should be a no-brainer. Oh, no - did I associate Kingman with no brains?

Hey Cap, we have tons of GOOD "regular" eating establishments, I never see you at any of them. most of them blow away those chains so many seem to crave.

I don't eat out it's waist of money (overcharging), the same reason I don't have a servant at home.
Also too many businesses open other will end up closing anyway. I have seen this in other growing cities.

It could have been put in a diffrent location as well. The parking lot is way too small for two new establishments. The Walgreens and McDonalds parking lots will be used hurting those buisnesses. Not to mention it will draw even more traffic to Stocton Hill during the most congested hours

Just what Stockton Hill needs more traffic congestion is there no other street in the town that would support business.

I am so excited! Chipotle is a fairly healthy place. Now if we can get a Rubios or Baja Fresh and El Pollo Loco, maybe Applebees, Olive Garden or Red Lobster would want to come.

I hope the governmental powers in charge really keep a steam roll going so we can get more here.

I hated Kingman for a long time. I moved from a riff-raff neighborhood to a very lovely neighborhood, and now I know why people like it here.

I also heard the 3rd tenant was possibly Baskin Robbins....nice!

I sure hope the City of Kingman decides to make that little side street between McDonald's and Woodys a NO PARKING street.

It is barely wide enough to traverse when there are cars parked on both sides and during this construction project people use it as their own personal parking lot.

If you know anything about Stockton Hill Road traffic then you will understand what a nightmare this place is going to be for traffic once it is open.

even tho I think it is great to see five guys coming to Kingman as they put out a great burger and will hurt the other burger joints.
I would rather have seen a regular eating establishment come to town, but what the hey, it's progress and something is being done with the vacant building that was going to waist, and will put a few more people to work which is badly needed in hard times.
