Second-graders at the Kingman Academy of Learning want to take you on a walk through Native American history.
The youngsters spent weeks researching Native American history and then crafting projects that reflected what they learned, and their work is now on display at the Mohave Museum of History and Arts. Whether you fancy handcrafted replicas of Native American homes from different parts of America, jewelry from various tribes or artwork that uses traditional Native American materials, there's something for everyone.
"We invite you to come and enjoy seeing what the students have learned through their research and dedicated work on these amazing displays," said Nina Brackett, who helped get the work displayed in the museum.
The museum is offering free admission to children and family members headed there to see the display through Jan. 7, when it gets removed. People who get in free can also check out the other parts of the museum without paying admission.
"The public response has been great," said Shannon Rossiter, the museum's director.
Parents and other people, who haven't been to the museum in years, are coming in to see the display but staying to get the full experience of the museum, Rossiter said.
"It's a win-win for us," he said.
The museum is located at 400 W. Beale Street. It's open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The museum is closed on all major holidays, so call (928) 753-3195 for more information.
