Dear Community: Please come and play in the mud at the Mohave County Fairgrounds on Saturday.
Sincerely, Cerbat Motosports.
The club is holding its first Mud Mayhem and Moto X Madness event of the year from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The event is sponsored by Kingman Regional Medical Center and Cliff Findlay Auto Center. The cost to watch is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 11 and children under the age of 5 are free.
There is still time to enter the races, said Joe Weber from Cerbat Motosports. Registration ends at 7:30 a.m. the day of the races. Practice for drivers and riders starts at 9 a.m. The cost to enter a motocross event is $30. The entry fee for peewees is $25. The mud bogs also cost $25 and the pro category costs $50.
The excitement starts with motocross events at 10 a.m. in front of the grandstands and includes all ages and vehicles, from dirt bikes to quads.
The peewee events follow at around 5 p.m. and then things really get dirty with the mud bog races starting at 5:30 p.m.
"They drop the trucks in a big mud pit in the middle of the course. The fastest truck across the pit wins," said Weber. "We're expecting a good turnout. The first-place winner gets $500 and the second-place winner gets $250."
Weber said he has people signed up from as far away as New Mexico, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
The area around the grandstands will also be packed with vendors selling food and merchandise.
The Jeff Evers band will also perform for the crowd from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. under the grandstands.
The Mud Mayhem and Moto X Madness is the first of several events the Mohave County Fair Association has lined up for the year.
Cerbat Motosports had a second Mud Mayhem event scheduled for February and 10 other new events are scheduled through out the year, said association spokeswoman Toni Swats.
