Outage is planned for Wednesday
2/5/2013 6:00:00 AM
Certain customers of UniSource Energy Services could face a power outage Wednesday morning as ongoing construction work continues on a transmission line stretching from Davis Dam in Bullhead City.
According to Unisource, the outage will occur between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and future outages might occur as workers with the Western Area Power Administration rebuild the 27-mile line to improve safety and long-term reliability.
Areas that will be affected by Wednesday's outage include Punta de Vista, Katherine Landing, Katherine Mine and Katherine Heights.
Last week, certain customers of Mohave Electric Cooperative experienced a similar planned outage. WAPA provides electricity to both companies.
People with special power needs or who have other questions are encouraged to call Unisource's Customer Care Center at (877) 837-4968.
"We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that these outages may cause and we will notify customers as early as possible in advance of planned outages," said Joseph Barrios in a statement. Barrios is the media relations supervisor for Unisource.
Barrios in his statement said other planned outages might occur as work continues, but specific dates and times have not been identified.
Officials with Mohave Electric last week said they do not anticipate additional planned outages for their customers. Completion of the project is expected to occur in the spring of 2014, said Barrios.
