KINGMAN - One person is dead and two others have been flown to Las Vegas and Phoenix hospitals after their small plane crashed late Thursday morning about 40 miles southwest of Kingman, according to the
Mohave County Sheriff's Office
Dispatchers at about 11:30 a.m. took a call from a "young male" who said their plane crashed with him and his parents onboard.
Search and Rescue units, deputies, and ground and aerial units from the
Department of Public Safety
responded to the crash site east of Burro Creek Crossing, near milepost 32 on Highway 93 and about 11 miles east of the highway. The plane was a fixed wing aircraft.
Guardian Air and River Medical subsequently responded to the scene of the crash.
According to MCSO, an adult female in the plane did not survive the crash. A 13-year-old boy was flown to a Phoenix hospital and an adult male was flown to a Las Vegas hospital. The names of the victims and where the plane was traveling to have not been released.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
Mohave County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said additional information would be forthcoming.
