Obituary: Thaddeus Kowalczyk

Thaddeus Kowalczyk, 82, was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Minneapolis. He passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, in Kingman.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Kowalczyk; three children by a previous marriage, John Kowalczyk, Jeff Kowalczyk, and Julie Kowalczyk,; stepson, Tom Bryant; sister, Florence Krueger; grandchildren, Zachary, Alyssa, Nicholas, Tamra, Justin and Heather; great-grandchildren, Michael, Savanah, Connor and McKeena Jade; and his precious and devoted cat, Penny.
Ted was a Korean War veteran in the U.S. Air Force who received the Foreign Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a fire engineer for 29 years for the city of West Covina California Fire Department.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. He will be greatly missed and remembered.
The memorial service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave., Kingman. Burial will follow, at approximately 2 p.m. at the Desert Lawn Cemetery, 9250 Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley.
