GOLDEN VALLEY - A Kingman man was arrested for allegedly stealing a car early Thursday morning, but another man who fired a gun at the person who reported the vehicle stolen has not been apprehended.
The caller told dispatch that he observed a friend's stolen Honda in a convenience store parking lot on Highway 68 at about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday. He said the man driving the car, Brandon Kurtis Nichols, initially told him he had purchased the car, but moments later "begged him not to call law enforcement."
Nichols fled at a high rate of speed, and another man driving an old Mazda or Mitsubishi pickup followed him, but not before firing a gun out of his window in the caller's direction.
Nobody was injured.
A while later, a Mohave County Sheriff's deputy spotted the Honda in the area of San Pedro Road and Redwall Drive.
Deputies found Nichols, 33, hiding nearby under a vacant trailer at the corner of Diabase Drive and Hassayampa Road, where he was taken into custody.
Anyone with information on the identity of the man who fired the shot can call the
Mohave County Sheriff's Office
at (928) 753-0753 or Silent Witness at (928) 753-1234.
