Alleged drug stash turns prison visit into arrest

KINGMAN - A Phoenix woman was arrested on multiple felony charges after she allegedly tried to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine into the Arizona State Prison-Kingman.
Prison staff reportedly observed Ana Maria Cabezas, 20, hand contraband to an inmate she was visiting with her two young children.
The contraband was confiscated and found to weigh about 40 grams, according to
Mohave County Sheriff's Office
spokeswoman Trish Carter.
Carter said Cabezas handed the prisoner four plastic bags containing a dark brown substance, 11 plastic bags containing a brown powdery substance, 10 bags containing a dark brown substance, a plastic bag containing a black sticky substance, 13 smaller plastic bags with black spades on them and a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance.
Some of the contraband field-tested positive for methamphetamine and heroin.
Cabezas was charged with possession of dangerous drugs for sale, transporting dangerous drugs for sale, possession of narcotics for sale, transporting narcotics for sale, promoting prison contraband, conveying prison contraband to a prisoner and two counts of involving a minor in a drug offense.
She was taken into custody without incident. Her children, 1 and 3 years old, were placed with Child Protective Services.
