City takes grant for rehab job at Kingman airport

KINGMAN - The City Council last week accepted a $900,000 grant offer from the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division to rehabilitate Taxiway D, which is parallel to the Kingman Airport's primary runway.
The local match requires the Kingman Airport Authority to chip in $100,000.
Work could begin in March and last two months.
In a related matter, ADOT's Aeronautics Division also offered a $72,000 grant to deign Taxiway C rehabilitation. The local match is $8,000. The City Council also accepted that grant with the understanding the Airport Authority is committed to provide matching funds to the project.
It is important to note neither project involves the remediation of contamination at the airport that has wreaked havoc on the tarmac.
That issue remains in litigation.
