"My precious, precious child.
I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."
- Footprints in the Sand
The time has come for David to be carried to Heaven and be welcomed by his many dear friends and family that have been waiting for him. His journey was peaceful, surrounded by loved ones and family by his side.
David Wayne Sammeli, 48, of Kingman passed way on Aug. 8, 2014.
Our celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at The LDS Stake Center, 610 Eastern Ave. in Kingman.
David was born in Cottonwood on Feb. 16, 1966, the second-born son to Sharlene and Robert Sammeli. He was a 1984 graduate from Kingman High School. He was Kingman's first individual state golf medalist in his junior year and later was a part of the state champion team during his senior year. His love for the game of golf carried over to all his children of which, later in life, he was able to coach them with their game. David also played basketball for the Bulldogs and was named to the Honorable Mention All Conference team. His coaches and teammates voted him most inspirational player.
David was married to Cherish on Jan. 14, 1995. They were married 19 years. "David was my love and the most loving husband and father any woman could ask for. In life I loved you dearly; in death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place no one can ever fill."
David worked as a machine operator prior to leaving the workforce in 2009. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, softball and mostly the time he spent with family and friends.
David is survived by his wife, Cherish Sammeli; his parents, Robert and Sharlene Sammeli; a brother, Kenneth Sammeli; his beautiful children, Maci, Austin, Mariah and Brianna; grandmother, Vivian Davenport; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends. David is preceded in death by various family and dear friends.
The family of David Wayne Sammeli wishes to thank all the many individuals and organizations that have helped us in any way over the years. Please keep the Kingman Cancer Care Unit and The American Cancer Society in mind when you wish to make donations. These two organizations were comforting and extremely helpful to the Sammeli family.
