Letter of thanks: Paying it forward at IHOP
8/18/2014 6:00:00 AM
Recently, I had the pleasure of seeing "pay it forward" at work. My friend and I had just eaten at IHOP and when he tried to pay for it with a debit card, their machine had some kind of a problem and wouldn't accept his card. We don't carry cash and I wasn't sure my credit card would work either. A lovely lady standing behind us offered to pay our $23 bill in cash. At first I was stunned and didn't realize what she was offering. Then it dawned on me. I was trying to figure out how we were going to handle the situation and there she was offering cash to the cashier.
Finally, my senses returned and, before she could leave, I asked for her name and address so we could send her a check.
I've seen and heard of such instances but here it was, right here in Kingman! We thanked her profusely and with a nice note but, now that I can get on the Internet again, I'd like to thank her in public. Sorry, I've forgotten her name but she knows who she is.
