Letter: No fan of new taxes
8/19/2014 6:00:00 AM
I see signs around town that say "Cochran for Mayor." Is this the same Cochran who, back in November 2013, said she wasn't running for office in 2014 because she was frustrated with the public and the council for opposing a primary property tax?
She said, "We need a property tax." Sounds to me like an upcoming tax-and-spend bureaucrat.
When times are good, the government, whether it is the city or federal, spends as fast as they can. When times are bad, they give a little "lip service" to cutting back and then start looking for more revenue streams.
It's their fancy way of saying more taxes. Just saying.
