KINGMAN - Friday marks the opening of the 2014 fall big game hunts in Arizona.
Archery-only season opens for deer and turkey in many units throughout the state.
Hunters in Units 3A-3C, 12A-12B (Kaibab), 13A and 13B all had to draw tags, but these hunts are considered to be among the best in the state.
Local Jon Yokely drew one of the 30 archery tags in Unit 13A, while Thom Howell and Kevin Reece were fortunate enough to draw archery tags for Unit 13B, the Arizona Strip.
Other units open to any archery hunters who can buy tags over the counter include Unit 10; Units 15A, 15B, 15C and 15D; Unit 16A; and Unit 18A and Unit 18B.
Check the 2014-15 Arizona Hunting Regulations booklet for a complete listing of all units that are open.
Over-the-counter archery turkey tags can also be obtained by archery hunters for Units 1, 3B, 3C, 4A, 4B, 5A, 5B, 6A, 6B (except Camp Navajo) 7,8,9,10, 11M, 12A, 17A, 17B, 18B, 20A, 22, 23 and 27.
