The Friends of the Kingman Library has some pretty good friends indeed.

The organization was recently given $60,000 for its building fund following the death of Friend volunteer Pauline Janzen, who passed away in October 2011.

The gift gives the building fund, which previously had a balance of just $18, a significant boost, although Friends Board President Lori Chambers said several thousand dollars that could be put toward the project are currently sitting in CDs.

Chambers said the Friends of the Library wants its own dedicated space at the library to reduce the labor involved in setting up frequent book sales and establish a permanent income source from book sales that could be held year-round.

Janzen worked many of those book sales and subscribed to the Doubleday Large Print Book Club.

She appreciated the Kingman library's large-print book selection, which is why she decided to remember the Friends in her will, the group said.

Bev Clouse is the Library Manager of the Kingman Branch and the liaison to the Friends of the Library Board. She keeps the Board informed as to the needs of the library and advises the Friends group on how best to assist the library. She does a wonderful job running the library and meeting the needs of the Kingman patrons.
