DOUG McMURDO/Miner
People who routinely ride KART buses will get a significant price break if they purchase discounted daily and weekly bus passes.

Riding the bus is about to get more affordable for commuters in the Kingman area.

The City Council on Tuesday voted 7-0 to approve discounted daily and weekly passes through Kingman Area Regional Transit.

Currently, riders pay $1.50 per ride, meaning if they have to change buses they pay an additional $1.50.

The new prices are $5 for a daily pass and $65 for a monthly pass. Seniors 60 and over and military veterans of any age can purchase a monthly pass for $55.

I'm Sheri Furr, Public Transit Superintendent for KART and would like to provide a little clarification of our new fare structure. The cost to board any fixed route stop will remain $1.50 and books of 30 coupons are still available for $45. Coupon books are not discounted, but offer the convenience of not having to carry exact change. The addition of daily and monthly passes will allow for a significant savings opportunity for many of our frequent passengers, especially those that require travel on more than one route to reach their destination. We are thrilled to be able to offer these discounts to our customers and hope to incorporate the new fare options beginning March 1st. I would like to thank City Council for approving the new fare structure and The Miner for getting the word out. If you haven’t ridden KART yet, please give us a try. The new day pass will be a great way to get out and see Kingman and where all four routes can take you. The monthly pass can save you hundreds of dollars each month compared to the high cost of fuel, car payments and insurance. For more information, contact our office at 681-7433 or you may call me directly at 692-3103.

@Again, An Incomplete Article
"Currently, riders pay $1.50 per ride, meaning if they have to change buses they pay an additional $1.50."

How hard is that to understand? If you do more than 3 rides, it's cheaper to buy a day pass. No mention of free transfers, because they don't have them.

Hey Web Admin......The story says daily and weekly in the second paragraph......think it should be daily and monthly?

KART is making a good step in te right direction in bettering its services to the Kingman community.

I hope with this new and extra revenue that KART invests in new buses and expanded routes.
