The new VA Clinic on Hualapai Mountain Road is expected to open in mid-2014 at the earliest.

KINGMAN - The new Veteran's Administration Clinic currently under construction at Hualapai Mountain Road and Adams Street is on schedule to be completed in June, according to Jeff Bayly, site supervisor for contractor C&B Construction of Cottonwood.

Jean Schaefer, spokeswoman for the VA, predicts that the move from the old facility on Beverly Avenue to the new clinic will be completed by October.

The new clinic will have 9,987 usable square feet, in contrast with 6,240 square feet at the current clinic.

"We will be able to expand our services to include physical therapy and added capacity for specialty care via telemedicine technologies, including teledermatology and telepulmonary," said Schaefer.

Staffing will expand to 30 employees, up from the current 21.

The need for a full time 24/7 VA Medical Center and not simply a clinic that tends to serve little more than window dressing is indeed truly needed. Veterans should not have to endure over 100 one way to get to a VA Medical Center for needed testing and care. It simply becomes an insult.
