Woman suffers head trauma after Kingman truck hits her
Witnesses sought to accident in front of KRMC

KINGMAN - A city of Kingman Fire Department vehicle struck and severely injured a pedestrian Monday morning in front of Kingman Regional Medical Center, according to the Kingman Police Department.

At about 9:25 a.m., a fire department Dodge Ram pickup driven by city employee William Nelson Johnston, 57, was leaving the hospital in the 3200 block of Stockton Hill Road and made a left turn onto that road on a green light.

The pedestrian, a 75-year-old Kingman woman, was walking in the crosswalk from east to west when the vehicle struck her. The "do not walk" sign reportedly was illuminated, according to the police department.

The impact knocked the woman backward and she hit her head on the ground, according to a report, inflicting a serious head injury. Johnston rendered medical care, according to police.

She was taken to KRMC and then transported to Las Vegas for additional treatment.

Speed, alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Kingman Police Department at (928) 753-2191.
