From classical piano and opera to barbershop quartets and drum solos, the Cornerstone Mission's Seventh Annual Variety Show on Feb. 23 will offer something for everyone.

Best of all, every dime raised will go to help the homeless people the mission serves, said Executive Director Lisa Beuchamp.

"The idea is to showcase local talent," said Beuchamp, who founded the shelter nearly a decade ago. "Over the years, it's been unbelievable to see the talent we have in Mohave County. You don't expect the quality in a community this size and I don't know why, because we should."

"There are 11 acts and we have a beautiful intermission with decadent desserts, punch, water or coffee."

A silent auction will take place before the 7 p.m. show starts and during intermission. Among the items up for bid are two timeshares offered up by residents and a giant stuffed horse donated by Wells Fargo.

Most of the entertainment offerings involve singing and music. Local singer and songwriter Chris Commisso will perform, as will classical pianist Shaughn Hirz. Scott Runyan and Mark Morgan will also play music.

The Sing-Sations, a local female barbershop quartet, will perform and Leah Ott will sing opera. Caleb Keener will riff on his electric guitar and drummer Jeremy Donson will play.

The Colvig Quintet string ensemble will perform, as will Rock Solid, a Christian rock band.

Cindy Landa Cox, the Mohave County treasurer, will sign language to song and dramatic orator Dale Herren will also perform.

The event is semi-formal, but don't let that scare you. "In Kingman," said Beuchamp, "that means clean jeans and a nice shirt. We like to give people a reason to dress up if they want."

She'd like to sell 400 tickets to the event, which will take place in the Kingman High School auditorium. Beuchamp said all funds raised will go to the local homeless population, one of the more vulnerable demographics in Mohave County.

Cornerstone Mission serves between 70-100 meals a day at its Sycamore Avenue location and about 20 men on average stay overnight in the shelter.

"The people of Kingman and the government entities have always come through for us," said Beuchamp. "We wouldn't be here without them."

Tickets are priced from $10 to $25 and group packages are available at a discount.

To purchase tickets, contact Beuchamp at (928) 715-3344.
