KINGMAN - State and local law enforcement agencies want Arizonans to enjoy Labor Day weekend, but they want those who are driving to do so responsibly.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety and local and national law enforcement will implement traffic safety campaigns throughout the state, according to a statement from DPS.
And for those traveling out of state, be advised - DPS and highway patrol agencies that monitor Interstate 10 from California to Florida will be out in force in an effort to reduce crashes.
Last year was one of the deadliest Labor Day weekends in Arizona in recent years, with 17 fatalities and a total of 14 fatal crashes.
A "Safety Corridor" will be established along Interstate 17 between Black Canyon City and Camp Verde.
DPS reminds motorists to carry extra water and appropriate supplies, obtain sufficient rest, inspect vehicles prior to departing and, most importantly, "drive with due regard for fellow travelers while carefully observing all traffic laws."
