KINGMAN - Gary and Diana Jordan have lived in the same home on Leroy Avenue for 14 years. It' hasn't been easy - the couple is on disability and survive on Social Security. In those 14 years, weeds have overtaken the Jordan's yard and the house needs fresh paint.

Enter Robert Fernandes and Daniel Debski and their business, C&C Home Solutions.

"We received a call from Robert explaining that he and some other organizations wanted to help us out," Diana said. "We were thrilled."

Fernandes knows a thing or two about needing a hand. The veteran became an addict and spent six years behind bars.

"When I got out of jail I got involved with the Iron Order Motorcycle Club," Fernandes said. "I needed that camaraderie."

Perhaps at first sight, Iron Order could put a little fear into some people. In reality, however, Iron Order is about giving back and lifting the community, which is how they and the Jordans connected.

The Kingman Sherwin Williams, which has been donating paint for four years to assist with similar projects, did so for this job.

"Community service is at the heart of any corporation," Jeremy Born of Sherman Williams said. "This is part of our 'Painters Week' where employees go out and work in the community."

The groups all came together Saturday and helped transform the Jordan home.

"I can't believe how great it looks," Diana said. "I just hope people don't drive by us not knowing this is our home."

Awesome project, Robert is my son in law and I am very proud of him and the whole group for doing such a nice thing. I drove by on Saturday and it looked awesome, great job guys, and Sherwin Williams.

This is a great service to our community! I think it'd be great for other organizations like this to get involved with beautifying our community like this! Not just people's homes, but vacant lots around the city that collect garbage, etc. Yes, it's not their responsibility and the problem should be left on the owner's shoulders, but with examples like this, Kingman could become a great place to live!

I know there are others who say that it already IS, but I'd be one of those to disagree. In my entire time in Kingman I've not seen or read of much community spirited things happening. Perhaps I did have blinders on, but I am trying to view this city with fresh eyes.

Good story Scott. Nice work helping people in the community. There are so many people that need help, but many are often too proud to ask. Leading by example, I hope others follow your lead.
