KINGMAN - The Mohave County Sheriff's Office and the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District responded to a serious accident on Northern Avenue and Glen Street at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

20-year-old Tyler Smith allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into a pickup truck, according to sheriff's office spokeswoman Trish Carter.

Smith allegedly was driving a 1989 Lincoln north on Glen Street at a high rate of speed when he blew through a stop sign at Northern Avenue and barreled into a 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup.

Carter said the accident remains under investigation, and alcohol might play a role.

Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District Chief Patrick Moore added that an injured Smith attempted to flee, but was subdued by law enforcement and ultimately transported to the hospital.

The impact severely damaged both vehicles.
