Havasu man accused of raping girl

Erin Taylor
Miner Staff Reporter

A Lake Havasu City man is charged with raping a 14-year-old Kingman girl after meeting her at a community event.

Ivan Eduardo Flores, 18, was arrested Tuesday on felony charges of molestation of a child and sexual conduct with a minor.

Flores reportedly befriended the victim during a family-themed concert being held in the 3700 block of North Highway 93 the previous Thursday night.

The assault allegedly took place outside the event. According to the incident report, the girl said she initially kissed Flores, but fought him off as the encounter escalated. She said he only stopped after the girl's brother and cousins came outside.

Both Flores and the girl returned to the event, with Flores reportedly introducing himself to her mother. He then left.

The incident wasn't reported to authorities until the next day when the girl contacted a school official.

Rape of a minor child is a serious offense. That is the thing about newspaper clippings, you get very little information, if you were there, or had seen it with your own eyes you may feel different. on the other hand, this is no joke, and has affected two lives forever. think about that A simple kiss turns into a night mare, pray to god this never affects your daughter, or son....

Sorry if some thought I was playing the race card. I simply was trying to figure out what happened here. The story is very vague with little or no detail. This young mans life could be affected in many ways for a very long time. I don't care what race he or the young girl is but if you don't think race is still a factor in America you must live in Kingman, Az or some other small town. His name is given. It is a latin name, hence the people of color remark. I believe that No always means No, and I don't think that is just a Liberal possesion. The girl could have been the same race. The story didn't say. I don't believe it should have been in the paper at all. It wasn't news it was gosip but to each his own.

Hey, nowhere in the story does it state that the youth was charged with rape or that the young girl was raped.

I was actually in agreement with the fox hound, seems fishy. Until you just had to bring out the race card. The reason the word racism is still on the american tongue is because you liberals wont stop harping on it and throwing it around to make invalid points. Its pitiful. Anyways, this story seems like its missing alot of details, but they always believe the girl, hope the kid gets a fair shake.

Oh my gosh I Can't believe you are trying to throw in the race card. With his name is does not sound like a person of color. ( your words not mine). It should not matter of what color is there skin. Now maybe you see why these young girls don't come forward & wait to talk to someone at school. Where they feel they won't be judged. That is for the courts to do not us.

Being a "little led on"... He's 18 shes 14 that's disgusting. Shes a child. There is no reason why this 18 year old ADULT even had a right to put himself in a position to kiss this girl. He knows the laws as well as anyone else...Besides that when someone says no it means no.

She initiated it? And he's being charged with rape? Did she tell him how old she is? Did he ask? Sounds like this story is full of holes.

I'm a little confused about what kind of rape we are talking about here. Some thing sounds a little fishy to me. Most rapist don't introduce them selves to the victim's mother after the crime. No means No but this sounds a little like maybe this victim was not a victim at first. this young man may have been led on a bit. I would bet that the little girl was not of the same race and that this was a factor in the arrest. The story says they kissed it doesn't say much more than that so I'm not sure what really happened. But this wouldn't be the first time that a young man of color was charged for something that a white boy would have just been sent home with a lecture.
