Facebook threat at Tipton more puzzling than scary

KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies and Kingman Unified School District officials aren't sure what to make of a "Burn Tipton" page that popped up on Facebook Tuesday afternoon and apparently disappeared by Thursday.

KUSD Superintendent Roger Jacks said students alerted the school district to the page, which had one post that said "ready for people to burn?"

"We're not sure if it was a threat directed against the school or not. We wanted to be proactive, so we notified the Sheriff's Office and sent a note to parents," Jacks said.

MCSO spokeswoman Trish Carter said deputies are investigating the situation, but they aren't sure if the message is a threat to the school. There is a mountain in the area named Tipton that the page could be referring to.

Additional law enforcement officers have been placed at the school until further notice.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the sheriff's office at (928) 753-0753 or Silent Witness at (928) 753-1234.

This is especially scary considering that our fire department has closed its doors and we have no fire service this weekend...I wonder if it was related to that?!
