KINGMAN - Cathy Nolan never thought she'd be trying to raise money to bury one of her small company's employees.

But when Steve Sullivan Sr. died Sunday afternoon in a vehicle accident while driving one of All American Tire's trucks to Seligman, she knew she and her husband, Shelton, had to do what they could to help. Sullivan, 56, worked as a tire salesman and service representative for five years at the business located in the Shell station at 1182 W. Beale St.

They have set up an account at National Bank, 2605 E. Andy Devine Ave., and donations can be dropped off there or at All American Tire. For more information, call (928) 753-9206.

"He was like family to us," said Nolan. "He was the most positive, upbeat person and he always had a smile on his face. He would help anyone and would never say no. In fact, the night before he was killed, a friend needed a ride to the airport in Las Vegas for a red-eye flight and he drove. He didn't get much sleep."

That good deed may have contributed to Sullivan's death, said Nolan, noting he was responding to a service call and was 20 miles outside of Seligman when his truck went off the road and flipped end over end. Nolan said police aren't sure whether he fell asleep or had a heart attack and are awaiting an autopsy report.

Sullivan was injured several years ago when he was working on his vehicle at home and the transmission fell on him, trapping him for several hours until help arrived. Doctors didn't think Sullivan would walk again, said Nolan, but after a short time on a walker, he returned to work at the store.

Sullivan leaves behind a girlfriend, who is five months pregnant, and three grown sons.

Steve, you are admired by many, loved by most, but missed by all. Steve was such a great man, there's nothing he wouldn't do to help someone out no matter who they were. I was 1 of his roommates for a couple months before he passed and he was more than kind to my children and I. This man will be in my heart forever. Rip Steve

I made sure in my last will and testament that I be cremated, a much cheaper funeral process, and leave more money to my sons!

My wife and I were returning home from Las Vegas with my sister and Her husband when we saw trouble ahead.. We were the first to stop to try to render help but it was clear there was not much we could do.. Suddenly a doctor and nurses appeared so we let them do their jobs and proceeded on our way. God bless him and his family.

Steve was a fantastic, trusting man, and I will miss him completely. I'm sorry his family had to go through such tragedy, he did not deserve to be taken from them.
