Rhodes buys back Pravada

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A federal bankruptcy judge has approved a prominent southern Nevada and Arizona developer's plan to buy back some of the properties on which his company sought Chapter 11 protection more than a year ago.

Bankruptcy Judge Linda Riegle entered an order Wednesday accepting a bid from Sagebrush Enterprises for 1,600 acres near Kingman. The company lists James Rhodes as president.

Sagebrush agreed to pay $1.4 million for the mostly undeveloped land. The property is part of the incomplete Pravada master-planned community in Golden Valley.

Rhodes heads a Las Vegas-based development empire including Rhodes Design and Development Corp.

The word RETARDOS does not exist in the dictionary illiterate Suppose you are talking slang, your native language. I love Golden Valley, just can't stand trashy people with no pride. You suffer from elitism. Growth is gonna come to Golden Valley despite you.

I have some land out there, within a mile of the entrance to the proposed Pravada. I bought it 'dirt cheap' about a year before Pravada was on its way. I used to pay about $400 a year for my property taxes, and in the last three years, I have had to pay about $6000 total... because the values went up, and then fell back down... where is my $400 a year payments? gone... I have to pay more for the fire department taxes per year.... for my dirt.... that can't catch fire... anyway... I hope Rhodes comes back and builds a bunch of houses now that he has all his ducks in a row. I hope he makes the place nice and I hope all you nay-sayers go back to your caves and lick your wounds, because I would rather have my property worth something, and be able to sell it, and make at least some kind of profit after all the years of taxes I have put into this area. Either lead, follow, or get out of the way,

To bad Rhodes has his problems. I don't like the man. However, if he can buy back the subdivision and make it successful then so much the better for everyone.

If you don't like golden valley, go find somewhere else to live! The trash we have here is the trash that was foreclosed on in Nevada and California that wants to come here cause they lived above their means there and were forced to find somewhere else to go screw things up. This Pravada is nothing good for Golden Valley! just another Vegas Land Baron trying to screw up another place like they have Vegas! That is What is trash!

Oh well, it doesnt affect anyone, right ? I wasn't happy with Rhoades when he came here but then money in my retirement was in a stock that Rhoades borrowed 500 million from to pass his dream on. He went bankrupt, my stock died and my property taxes went to 1/10th the purchase price on a piece of bare washed laced land. Course, a hard working retiree doesn't count, it's all about the BIG BOYS.

I'm sick of these creeps getting away with this kind of dishonesty. People who buy from them and support them aren't much better.

I welcome Rhoades developing the Golden Valley area. Golden Valley should be responsible for developing its own principality and should incorporate. Look at Kingman, its terribly planned, its a hodge podge of commercial and residential with lots of junky lots. There is no grocery store in Golden Valley, Kingman does nothing to attract worthy businesses in Golden Valley. And don't try annexing the Pravada development to Kingman. Golden Valley is going to be a great place to live much more so when the trash is taken out. Actually lot of residences should be condemned. but oh well.

Isn't County Manager Ron Walker buddy buddy with Jim Rhodes?

Wasn't Walker photographed getting out of Rhodes' helicopter?

What there some back room hand shaking to get Mr. Rhodes what he wanted?

With Mr. Rhodes more or less booted out of Mohave Co due to bad business practice and filing Chapter 11, he now sees a chance to come back and make money due to the rewrite of the General Plan. When passed in Nov, the General Plan will no longer have any safeguards for the residents, therefore, Mr. Rhodes can do whatever he wants, and the county will not be able to do anything about it!

I just don't get it? One can file bankruptcy or chapter 11...yet start another company and buy back the property. Where is the money coming from to purchase the land? I surely would describe Mr. Rhoades as "prominent" developer in Nevada or anywhere!!
