Obamacare Signup Date Looming, California Sanity and More

 Linda Athens

Obamacare Signup Two Weeks Away - Are You Ready? Are THEY Ready?
They, meaning the government, are certainly not ready. The Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) within Heath and Human Services is the agency running Obamacare. They are tasked with testing the data security for the main pillar of Obamacare: allowing Americans to buy health insurance on state exchanges starting Oct. 1. Their testing of the security of crucial information and assessment of firewalls was due last May 13. That never happened and has now been set for one day prior to Oct. 1.

That in itself is problematic. Those enrolling will put in their identity, income and all other normally private bits of information which will then go through spokes directly to the Internal Revenue Service and other government agencies. And that alone should make your blood run cold. If the IT testing is not complete, there can be security breaches and all the enrollee information will be subject to theft.

The Obama administration, feeling not opening on time would be a worse embarrassment, have solved (according to them) the problem. The CMS head will be allowed to give the go ahead even if unable to conclude the data hub to be impregnable. That should assuage any jitters about it ... or maybe not. (Reuters)

Christmas Eve, 2010, horrible Harry Reid shoved all 2572 pages of the unread Obamacare bill through so Nancy Pelosi could find out what was in it. In dribs and drabs, we are finding out. It started with 30 million uninsured, it will still end up with 30 million uninsured.

Other accomplishments. It will succeed in destroying everyone else's insurance - you know, the majority who were happy with the insurance they already had.

It is succeeding in causing many doctors, after years of schooling to attain their goal of helping others, to simply walk away rather than deal with this new socialist takeover in the fashion of Adolph Hitler. They didn't become doctors only to hire attorneys to decipher that which is undecipherable or to drag along computers on wheels, then spend patient time typing into it patient's private info so it will reach DC on time. Time that could be spent listening to lungs and looking into ears. Add to that their decrease in government reimbursements causing some to reach into their own pockets to pay employees and it is reasonable, although devastating to the country, that they would leave their practices.

Radio host Roger Hedgecock reports his friend called for a dermatology appointment, was told it would be 8 weeks due to the now mandatory, crushing paperwork required, leaving less patient time and appointments backed up. She instead called a doctor who takes cash and got in much sooner.

Bottom line: If you have money, you may be able to pay for your own care (unless Obamacare follows through with their fines on doctors accepting cash). Or, if you are a friend of Obama or a labor union, you have already been approved to opt out of Obamacare (and how is this fair?). And if you are middle class but you make too much to get it free, you don't even have to prove your income, therefore most can get it free anyway. Hmm! Hard to make sense of this.

However, someone does have to pay for the care. That will be the middle class in the form of taxes (20 new taxes and tax hikes) and the elderly in the form of health care denied. There will be investment income surtaxes, Medicare payroll taxes, even a tanning tax. Hidden taxes on hospitals, medical device manufacturers and insurers will be passed on to consumers.

Michael Tanner, health care law expert, says it will cost ordinary Americans $6,000 more annually out of pocket. Middle class workers wages have stagnated in the last five years. This could be a fatal blow.

Dr. Betsy McCaughey, Constitutional scholar and Ph.D. from Columbia, the only person known to have read the entire Obamacare bill (which incidentally is now 17,000 pages long) gives the following advice. An advocate for the elderly, she says soon after implementation,it will be difficult for the elderly to get cataract surgery and knee/hip replacements. So do
them now. Her 168-page, easily readable book, "Beating Obamacare," lays out all the pitfalls, such as paying for substance abuse treatment even if you never imbibed yourself. But know that if you do not obtain insurance, you can be fined $2000. (Money Morning - your map to

financial planning)

Those opposed to Obamacare, put the lid back on the Tums and Xanax and instead call your Congressperson to deny funding of Obamacare before it's too late. Once in, we're there forever.

Tell them to ignore the fear mongering of the left about conservatives and a government shutdown. We've had shutdowns before and lived right through them. We may not, however, survive Obamacare.

More Insanity - Mostly From California
It's not hard to understand why Californians are trying to escape in droves. In many ways, a left wing pit ... beautiful, but deadly. Governor Moonbeam, Jerry Brown is going to sign a bill for all illegals in CA to have driver licenses. They will be required to have insurance, easily obtainable with fraudulent liability cards obtained at any print shop over the border. Know this one from personal experience.

I should add, as these illegals illegally apply, they will also be signed up to vote. Yeah, I know, that would also be illegal. Don't bother with all the liberal BS about it like after all, they work here and pay taxes. Yes, jobs real Americans could have and many are paid under the table so don't necessarily pay taxes. Try checking out the amount paid them through social programs and you may change your mind.

How about this one. They're so poor and just want a new life. So do millions of others who come the legal way. Like my ancestors for instance. We are a republic made up of the rule of law which, to date, is being trampled. Every time we allow an illegal to come in illegally, reward them and now, unbelievably, sign them up to vote, we are spitting in the face of every George Washington who nearly froze at Valley Forge fighting for the freedoms the liberals are now spitting on. Bottom line, this is all about liberal vote getting, nothing more.

Government Sanctioned Back Alley Abortions?

It gets worse. California will now allow first trimester abortions to be performed by other than physicians. Nurses training will be provided and midwives or whoever wants to do them will be allowed. Two types will be allowed, with medicine that kills the unborn child and with a uterine medical instrument inserted to suck the baby out in pieces. Some states are very lax at allowing non-physicians to do abortions and statistics show the rate of complications doubles in those states.

California Planned Parenthood is pushing this big time along with the usual suspects like NARAL, ACLU, CA Latinas for Reproductive Justice and even SEIU, the big Obama linked labor union. The reason, PP will be able to train non physician employees to do the killing, thus performing more abortions at a lower cost since no Dr will need be paid. Their own website says the following:

• Provider shortage - As of 2008, 87 percent of U.S. counties had no known abortion provider; these counties are home to 35 percent of all women of reproductive age. Furthermore, 97 percent of non-metropolitan counties have no abortion services, and 92 percent of non-metropolitan women live in these areas.

They are becoming hysterical that people are starting to turn against abortions in spite of the fact, one third of all abortion providers actually live in California. The bill is CA 154. Governor Moonbeam has until Sept 30th to sign it - every indication is that he will.

Friendly Reminders -

A) Our neighbor, the beautiful state of Colorado, needs every prayer we can send their way.

B) Governor Brown needs to be told the bills he will sign are sinful and pull all Americans down.

C) Congress needs to be told to stand up and show some backbone and not fund Obamacare.

D) And also, that we do not need the Consumer Protection Bureau monitoring every four out of five credit card purchases we make. If they want to utilize their middle word, PROTECTION, they can protect us by staying the hell out of our business.

BM: THE NORM! 200WC

Andy and Amy Mangione of Louisville, Ky. and their two boys are just the kind of people who should be helped by ObamaCare. But they recently got a nasty surprise in the mail.

"When I saw the letter when I came home from work," Andy said, describing the large red wording on the envelope from his insurance carrier, "(it said) 'your action required, benefit changes, act now.' Of course I opened it immediately."

It had stunning news. Insurance for the Mangiones and their two boys, which they bought on the individual market, was going to almost triple in 2014 --- from $333 a month to $965.

The insurance carrier made it clear the increase was in order to be compliant with the new health care law.

"This isn't a Cadillac plan, this isn't even a silver plan," Mangione said, referring to higher levels of coverage under ObamaCare.

"This is a high deductible plan where I'm assuming a lot of risk for my health insurance for my family. And nothing has changed, our boys are healthy-- they're young --my wife is healthy. I'm healthy, nothing in our medical history has changed to warrant a tripling of our premiums.

So, a 75 y/o doctor doesn't like how the system is changing and is retiring early. Sounds like what a lot of people in a lot of different fields have done over the years. I'm sure the buggy whip manufacturers said much the same.

Personally, I think it's about time that he retires. I'd probably be a bit uncomfortable with someone well into their 80's being my doctor in most cases. They don't always stay up to date on things. He also says this "At this point I would rather be paid nothing and have the freedom to decide what is right for my patients". I doubt anything is preventing him from practicing for free.

I've dealt with some much older doctors (mostly contract people while in the military) and they had some crazy ideas about care. One told me (after diagnosing fallen/bad arches) to walk 5min each morning and night on the sides of my bare feet with my toes curled to help restore my arches. No help (of course). Few months later I got orthotic inserts, pain was gone in days.

"The letter gave her the new amount under obamacare she would have to pay - exactly triple the old amount."

As frankless is so fond of saying, "I call BS on this one."

I base that on my kids telling me their health insurance costs for next year will go down anywhere from 20% to 30%.

If what you report is indeed true (highly doubtful given your track record) your kids need to go to the exchange and find policies that better fit their needs - both in coverage and cost.

My daughter just called. Got a letter from the place she works for and has for 28 years. All these years, they both have paid for her health insurance. The letter gave her the new amount under obamacare she would have to pay - exactly triple the old amount.

Her husband the same. Unfortunately, works for a company that makes medical parts like knees, etc. Hard hit, these companies. Again, his medical will triple. Thanks obama. That will certainly make things easier in her family. She already works 70 hours a week.

Kids now out of the home, they have to now put them back on their own insurance....if they can. These were their big years to really save for retirement. Oh well!!

Can the right wing get any more ridiculous??

FIRST OF ALL, each STATE had the opportunity to start their own low cost marketplace for people to buy insurance.

Some states started these even BEFORE the ACA came in ...Florida, Mass, Utah were some of the earliest to put this together.

By your own definition, I guess that makes Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, Orrin Hatch and the grandfather of insurance marketplace reform, Richard Nixon, all ""socialists in the fashion of Adolph Hitler.""

But as soon as Nixon's proposal became Obama's proposal, Arizona suddenly "Opted Out", despite the AGONY that many Arizonans are enduing while they and their small employers cannot find a reasonable rate for health insurance.

In the meantime, States that DID agree to expand Medicaid and help small businesses band together with thousands of other businesses to get the lower GROUP RATES that big business gets, are going to also see their numbers of people in permanent disability DECLINE, while Arizona will only see that number GROW., and choke to death on the cost of a feeble and unhealthy population.

Now just how dumb is that.

Linda Athens:

If 83% of physicians are disatisfied with what's going on, maybe they should get into another field. This is what a lot of middle class Americans have had to do because of the War on the Middle Class perpetuated by the rich dems and rich teapubs who move their money and jobs to foreign countries. My father -in -law, a veteran of the Baatan Death March, and a long time listener to limbaugh told me the thing that will eventually ruin America is GREED. There is NOBODY looking out for Middle America or the poor.

"I am in my mid-70s and have both the capacity and willingness to care for patients for another decade. But I am retiring. I cannot stand it anymore. More than half of my time in the office is spent filling out forms, writing letters, responding to inquiries, and attending to 'urgent' matters that did not exist 10 years ago. And every year my income is less. At this point I would rather be paid nothing and have the freedom to decide what is right for my patients. ACA is only another straw, but for this tired camel, it will break my back."

Be sure to pretend you never have seen this comment of mine so you can continue to beta-male screech "I will ask again.....!" in the future.

And under reported:

60 Doctor-Owned Hospitals cancelled due to Obamacare becoming law.

According to the exec director of Physicians Hospitals of America, Molly Sandvig, these hospitals were in the development stage - now canceled.

Obamacare singles them out as hospitals that won't be eligible to receive Medicare/Medicaid payments. Without that, they cannot make it with more and more people on both.

To single these hospitals out is Unamerican in my humble opinion.

Dr owned facilities already in full force will be allowed to be grandfathered in but must go, hat in hand, to Kathleen Sebelius's Department of Health and Human Services and beg for that permission.

AND, those existing Dr owned hospitals are greatly affected in other ways by Obamacare.

They won't be allowed to grow, add beds, add rooms. Basically, Obamacare rules are stifling them. So sad because they are said to be some of the best hospitals in America.

Is there anything more Obama can do to destroy our healthcare system? Oh, I am sure there is as the truth about obamacare keeps dribbling out.

Bombard the Senate with calls to defund Obamacare.

"The problem here is not the illegals, but the low-life, anti-American businessmen (mostly Republiscums) who do the hiring and paying “under the table.”"

The problem is that the illegal criminal immigrants (which means ALL of them, bobby), can get paid under the table and also collect welfare for their undeserving spawn. And before you respond, bobby, remember, they CAN indeed get benefits for children.

And I am surprised to see you using the word "illegals". Don't you know that leftist "progressives" are supposed to call them "undocumented" immigrants these days?

I find your support for criminals, aka illegal immigrants, totally expected and no big surprise. And I'm sure your support for them even extends to those who are convicted drug dealers, murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and even drunk drivers.

After all "illegal" immigrants are merely "unregistered democrats".

“Republiscums”

Ah yes. This would be the sort of childish name calling you condemned recently in another comment, would it, bobby? Be sure to respond and say how it is not the same thing when you do it. That will be good for a ….......

“Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices … according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association.”

No, 83% of the 699 doctors asked a loaded question by the right wing DPMA said they have “considered” leaving. I feel confident that each year 100% of all doctors in this country have considered quitting and it has nothing to do with the ACA. BTW – aren’t you the one who has told us numerous times that, “polls don’t mean a thing?”

“… America will face a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020.”

Sounds like a good time for our nation to get behind a program that will help young people go to university and become doctors.

“The new health care law increases demand for physicians by expanding insurance coverage.”

And more Americans having health care coverage is bad because….? Perhaps if some of the people on Medicare who demand more and more services would back off a bit the shortage would not be such a problem.

Your rant actually points up reasons, we as a nation, need to step up and see that more young people enter the medical fields.

Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices over President Barack Obama’s health care reform law, according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association.

The DPMA, a non-partisan association of doctors and patients, surveyed a random selection of 699 doctors nationwide. The survey found that the majority have thought about bailing out of their careers over the legislation, which was upheld last month by the Supreme Court.

Even if doctors do not quit their jobs over the ruling, America will face a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020. The new health care law increases demand for physicians by expanding insurance coverage. This change will exacerbate the current shortage as more Americans live past 65.

By 2025 the shortage will balloon to over 130,000, Len Marquez, the director of government relations at the American Association of Medical Colleges, told The Daily Caller.

The fact that you once sold phony insurance cards does not mean they “are easily obtainable” today.

“I should add, as these illegals illegally apply, they will also be signed up to vote.”

Totally false – as usual – these DL’s will specify the holder is not a citizen like the current DL’s issued to Green Card holders that will preclude their registering to vote.

“Yes, jobs real Americans could have and many are paid under the table …”

The problem here is not the illegals, but the low-life, anti-American businessmen (mostly Republiscums) who do the hiring and paying “under the table.”

“Government Sanctioned Back Alley Abortions?”

As always false information and don’t like abortions, don’t have one. (delete).

Once again we’re treated to massive amounts of mis-information cut ‘n’ pasted from numerous right wing sources.

“Those enrolling will put in their identity, income and all other normally private bits of information which will then go through spokes directly to the Internal Revenue Service and other government agencies.”

Not totally accurate as usual. Currently your personal, private medical information is held in numerous data banks by insurance providers stored in foreign nations with no concept of security.

“It will succeed in destroying everyone else's insurance - you know, the majority who were happy with the insurance they already had.”

Totally incorrect, everyone currently with insurance will be able to retain their current insurer and doctor.

”… many doctors…simply walk away rather than deal with this new socialist takeover in the fashion of Adolph Hitler.”

I will ask again that you provide the name of one doctor who has “simply walked away.”

“Radio host Roger Hedgecock …”

Right wing loon and know liar.

“Dr. Betsy McCaughey,…”

Proven liar and shill for the insurance industry.

And why someone who is on Medicare (socialized medicine) is against every American having the same kind of access to medical care is still surprising.

Today, Sept 19, 2013, is a good day. It's the day Speaker Boehner and the good people of Congress passed a bill to cover running the government but excluding obamacare that 70% are opposed to.

Recognizing the three part balance in our Republic and that we the people are in charge, they took the high road and voted the will of the people.

Let's hope horrible Harry and the Senate will do the same. If not, it's passed back, and a shutdown occurs, it is directly on Reid and the liberal Dem's heads.

Meanwhile, another obamacare disaster looms. $54 million is being spent to hire community organizer types/union people "Navigators" and with TWENTY HOURS OF ONLINE TRAINING ONLY and no particular other qualifications they will be responsibile for explaining ALL of Obamacare and signing people up without errors. Hahahahahahahahaha!! The pay can run from $14 an hour to $40 an hour.

They'll be privy to our most private info including about our sex lives (True!) and with the data security testing iffy, CAN IT GET ANY WORSE?

Burn the Senate lines up tomorrow to vote for defunding. 188WC
