Obituary: George James Johnston

George James Johnston decided to leave this Earth and did so on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. George was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Akron, Ohio. He was happily married to Betty Jeanette Gritton for 71 years. Their marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

George served in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1946, mostly in the Pacific Theater of World War II. He later worked for Aerojet Company in California in the machine shop, making defense weapons.

George and Betty have three children: Barbara Jane (Albert) McCormick of Kingman, Penny June (Kenneth) Lewis of Cedar City, Utah, and Patricia Jean of Lancaster, Calif. They have eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The Johnstons moved to Arizona in 1978 and have lived in Kingman since 2000. They have spent much of their retirement volunteering in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Las Vegas Temple and the Family History Center in Kingman.

A memorial service will be held at the Rutherford Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 1. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. with services following at 11. Interment will be at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.

Brother Johnston was one of those people
that you like right away! Always smiling,
with a real concern for others. Yes, he
will be missed, however, I bet there is a big
reunion going on in the spiritual world !!!!!!!!!

Thanks for letting me know you, a little bit !!!
