Obituary: Eugene Christie
Eugene “Gene” Christie
Eugene “Gene” Christie

Eugene "Gene" Christie, born Aug. 3, 1936, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose Christie; his daughter, Elizabeth (Mark) Kalinowski and their children, Matthew (Kerri), Kimberly and Edward of New York; his other daughter, Eugenia (Louis) Collins and their children, Louis Jr., Joseph and Derek of Kingman. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Christie of Kokomo, Ind.; his sister, Linda Poling of Kokomo; his sister, Judy Easterling of Cleveland, Ohio; and his brother, Randy Christie of Nebraska.

Gene was predeceased by his father, Verle Christie; his mother, Anna Christie; his brothers, Verle Jr. and Johnny; and his sisters, Annette, Sandy, Marlene and Francis.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 1730 Kino Ave., Kingman, AZ 86409.

Gene retired as a Tech. Sgt. from the Air Force in 1974 and went to work at Sinclair Oil Corporation. He retired from Sinclair in 2004 and with his wife, Rose, moved to Kingman, and went to work for Tri-Tech Lube Center for a couple of years before transferring to Aaction Automotive Center. He always joked that now his daughter Gina was his boss.

Our loss of this wonderful brother, father, father-in-law and grandfather, is heaven's gain. Gene loved to work in his garden and unfortunately in the last couple years of his life he was not able to do that, so now he is up in heaven working in God's garden.

A part of me he took with him

But his love he left me to keep

So we will never really be parted

The bond between us is too deep.

What we'd give if we could say

Hello, Dad, in the same old way

To hear your voice and see your smile

To sit with you and chat a while.

So if you have a father

Cherish him with care

For you'll never know the heartache

Till you see his vacant chair.

Our hearts are broken. Gene and Rose have been wonderful neighbors over the years. We will miss Gene greatly. We know that he is now working in the Lord's garden with a smile on his face. May God bless and watch over his family.

I'm gonna miss you, Gene. You raised 2 fine daughters and I am honored to be married to one of them. Rest in heaven and know that your wife and daughters are in good hands.
