When I'm Gone

"When I come to the end of my journey

And I travel my last weary mile,

Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned

And remember only the smile.

Forget unkind words I have spoken;

Remember some good I have done,

Forget that I ever had heartache

And remember I've had loads of fun.

Forget that I have stumbled and blundered

And sometimes fell by the way.

Remember I have fought

Some hard battles and won,

Ere the close of the day.

Then forget to grieve for my going,

I would not have you sad for a day,

But in summer just gather some flowers

And remember the place where I lay.

And come in the evening

When the sun paints the sky in the west,

Stand for a few moments beside me,

And remember only my best."

Reading theses brought tears to my eyes. She was the most amazing mother and friend anyone could ask for. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss her. I thank you all for you sharing your memories of my mom. I tell her stories to every person I met because I believe she lives on through them. I miss you mommy so much more then words can ever say.

I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of Valerie. The first time I met her she was walking with a group of friends and I was alone sitting on a curb crying. She came over to me to ask if I was okay and I said I was fine. I was embarrased that they had seen me and just wanted her to leave but she sat down a talked with me instead. She had me cracking up a few minutes later. I think we were about 13 and 14 years old at the time. We never hung out after that but I never forgot the kindness she showed me that day. It's amazing how that type of thing can stay with a person. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family.

I haven't Known Val for long, however, over the past few months, I really enjoyed her company, stories, laughter etc. I know just four days before she passed I was at her house. She said, "oh, I have something for you, let me go get it". I said "Dont get up and not to worry about it" because I wanted her to rest, however, she insisted and said, "no, I'm gonna go get it right now, just in case....." She came back, then handed me a crystal heart and said "I heard you saying you like heart stuff the other day and thought you might like this" She was right and it meant a lot to me that night, and even more now. SO, Thank you Val for becoming my friend. I truly am saddened we didn't have a chance to hang out longer. I know that night you told me how you didn't think your body could pull you out of the agony & pain & how you were scared, then a tear trinkled down your check. So I asked you if I could pray for you. We prayed. YOu thanked me then you said "I'm no longer in fear of dying, my fear is of how my kids, grandkids, family & friends will handle grieving after I'm gone." I honestly don't know many of your loved ones too well, but I know its hard times for all of you, so I pray you do your best to stay strong for each other. REST IN PEACE VAL.
