KINGAMN - In Game 2 of Kingman Academy's volleyball match with Metro Tech Tuesday at Glass Chiropractic Court, the Tigers looked like a ship heading off course.

Unforced errors led to Metro Tech jumping out to an early 7-3 lead. However, the Tigers slowly tried to get back on course, rallying back to tie it at 13 before Bobbie Baker's ace serve gave KAHS a 14-13 lead and righted the ship's course for a 25-14 game win.

The Tigers won the match, 3-0.

"Communication is a big thing right now," said KAHS coach Jason Judd. "They definitely need to communicate all the time. When they don't communicate, that's when we start to see our unforced errors."

The Tigers won the first game 25-14 after jumping out to an 8-2 lead and won the third game 25-19 after going on a 13-7 run.

"I think they have come a long way as far as finding their identity," said Judd of how his team has coped with losing three seniors from last year's team who played pivotal roles. "We changed our defense off the net and our offense off the net where we support and cover where we don't have our strengths."

With the win, KAHS improved to 4-0 after picking up a pair of wins Friday against Peoria Accelerated (3-0, 25-6, 25-14, 25-2) and South Ridge (3-0, 25-19, 25-21, 25-17).

"I'm excited about their progression and where they started at the beginning of the year and where they are at now," Judd said. "I think we've made great strides, and if we can cut down on the unforced errors, then we will dominate those teams."

KAHS also played Metro Tech's junior varsity team, winning 2-0 as Judd used it as an opportunity to get his younger players some playing time.

"It was nice to have a JV game and it was nice for the younger ones to get out there and get more experience playing," Judd said.
