Academy girls starting to click

Rodney Haas
Miner Sports Reporter

Kingman Academy coach Dave Scroggins said after the Lady Tigers 49-19 win over Maya Friday that his team is starting to click.

Judging by the Lady Tigers jumping to a 21-4 lead after the first quarter and a 32-6 lead at halftime, he may be right. Whatever inconsistencies plagued KAHS in December appear to be gone.

"The girls are starting to understand the offense and getting better on the presses," Scroggins said. "As a coach you hope you are even farther along, but I'm really pleased with where they are at right now. I'm very pleased."

Ashela Tomlinson, Kiley Tomlinson and Leanna Carly each scored nine points to lead KAHS.

The Lady Tigers took a 42-16 lead heading into the fourth quarter, which was mostly played with a running clock.

KAHS traveled to West Phoenix on Saturday. The Lady Tigers (10-5) are currently sitting at No. 3 behind No. 2 Southpointe and No. 1 EVAC. KAHS will travel to EVAC on Friday before closing out the regular season Feb. 8 at home against Peoria Accelerated.
