Kingman Little League South held its Opening Ceremonies Saturday at Southside Park.

The various teams were introduced to the crowd and several people who were involved with the original Kingman Little League 60 years ago were honored with a commemorative baseball.

They included Jerry Meins, Roger Murillo and Roger Esquerra, who were on the original 1953 team, and Lorna J. Chavez, whose husband Rosalio was the coach.

"It's nice," Murillo said. "Old guys like us being remembered for something we did 60 years ago. It's quite an honor."

I'm glad to see the 'ol little leaguer's from the past honored I was a member of the St. Mary's Indians and Frank Esquibel and Rosy Chavez were our coaches. I even pitched a no-hitter one year----so where is my commemorative baseball ?
