KINGMAN - David Yingling and Patrick Webb moved on to Saturday's finals at the 2013 AIA Division II State Championship Meet in Mesa Friday.
Yingling qualified fifth in the 100-yard freestyle. His time of 50.41 seconds was 1.77 behind Notre Dame Prep's Braxton Bilbrey's 48.64.
Yingling also qualified 15th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.28, which was 2.6 seconds behind Notre Dame's Joe Starkweather's 20.68. The time posted by Starkweather is an automatic All-American speed.
Webb took 16th in the 200 freestyle at 1:54.28 for the last and final spot in Saturday's championship heats. He was 17th in the 500 free and came in just 7/100ths of a second short of qualifying. He was listed as alternate, meaning if any swimmers ahead of him could not race Saturday then he was eligible to take their spot.
Max Rose competed in the 100 backstroke but failed to qualify. His time and place information was not available.
