One of the goals for Kingman High first-year coach Ron Anthony was to win more games than last year.

After Friday's 41-36 win over Phoenix Moon Valley to conclude the Bradshaw Tournament in Prescott Valley, the Bulldogs equaled last year's total by improving to 6-8.

"It was a good win for us," Anthony said. "We missed a lot of free throws, but we played really good defense. Jerron (Anthony) rebounded the ball well and down the stretch we made our free throws."

Jerron Anthony grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with his eight points. Nick Dellacioppa scored 11 points to lead KHS.

The Bulldogs picked up a 62-8 win over Mayer High late Thursday to snap a four-game losing streak. During the skid, KHS was averaging 22 turnovers a game. Over the last two games, the Bulldogs have cut that number to 13 a game. It's something that Anthony knows needs to keep improving if Kingman is going to attain its next goal of having a winning record.

"When we eliminate our turnovers, we become a better team," Anthony said. "That's our goal. That's what we are shooting for. We've already met our goal of how many games we wanted to win. We wanted to win as many games as we did last year. We are there, so now what we want to do is build on our program and have a winning record by the end of the year."

The Bulldogs will get the opportunity to build on the last two wins when they travel to Flagstaff on Jan. 11 to open the second half of the season.

"That would be a good win for us if we beat them at their place," Anthony said of the Flagstaff game. "That would give us some momentum for the next games we play."

In the meantime, the Bulldogs will enjoy a much-needed break after playing eight games in 12 days, including a stretch of five games over the last two days.

"That's a lot of games," Anthony said. ""You even hear the pros talk about how it's tough to play back-to-back games from night to night. These kids play two games one night and two games the next. That's a lot of basketball. Unless you have a stacked team where you have really good players or bench players that can come in and play well, it's tough."
