1/10/2013 6:01:00 AM Lady Bulldogs get first goal in 5-1 loss
KHS’ Elizabeth Angle leaps in the air with teammate Natalie Casson as Haley Moore looks on following Angle’s goal in the 61st minute of the Lady Bulldogs’ 5-1 loss to Phoenix Goldwater Tuesday night. Angle’s goal was the first goal for Kingman this year.
KINGMAN - It took 381 minutes into the season before the Kingman High girls soccer team finally got on the scoreboard Tuesday night.
But now that the Lady Bulldogs have their first goal of the season, the attention turns to getting their first win.
"I think that is important. I think (the goal) re-instilled a little confidence," said KHS soccer coach Jennifer Johnston.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 0-5 after Tuesday's 5-1 loss to Phoenix Goldwater. Elizabeth Angle's goal in the 61st minute for KHS proved to be the only highlight of the night.
But despite the Lady Bulldogs' lack of success in the win column, the mood of the players remains upbeat as progress has been made - most notably with the 15 shots on goal and the consistent pressure put on Goldwater.
"That's why I'm happy," Johnston said. "At some point, you do get into a funk that we are never going to win and we are not doing that. As a coach, all I want to see is to continue to improve. We do that, we will start winning games."
Kingman will look for their first win today when they travel to Lake Havasu.
