KINGMAN - Kingman South answered Blythe's two-run rally in the top of the fifth inning with three in the bottom half of the inning to take a 5-2 win in the opening game of the 9-10 All Star Tournament Saturday at Southside Park.
"It was a good ballgame," said South manger Donnie Hall.
South pinch-hitter Ryelen Samson started the rally by coaxing a walk and later scored when Garret Deim singled in him and Ganner Morris to take a 4-2 lead. Diem later scored on an error.
Diem got the start and picked up the win, pitching four innings and giving up three hits while striking out five and walking one.
South took an early 1-0 lead after the first inning and added another run in the third.
Diem led South at the plate with three hits and two runs scored.
South advanced to play Kingman North on Tuesday.
"It's going to be fun. It's going to be a tough game," Hall said.
