KINGMAN - The Kingman Senior All Star Little League team secured a spot in tonight's District 9 championship game with an 8-3 win over Mohave Valley Tuesday night in Blythe, Calif.
Kingman picked up runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings and capitalized on Mohave errors and stellar pitching from Josh Allen, Kenyan Rowley and Cody Quick.
"We did exactly what we went there to do and played a flawless game and won," said Kingman manager Rick Ogborn. "We got off to a really good start. They made a few errors and we capitalized on it. We hit the ball all night. Everybody on the team hit the ball, and that's what won the game."
Allen pitched 30 pitches while Rowley and Quick pitched around 40. All three will be available for tonight's title game.
Kingman will await Wednesday's Blythe/Mohave Valley winner. If Kingman wins tonight, they will advance to the state tournament that is expected to begin July 16 in Prescott. A loss means the two teams will play again on Friday for a decisive game.
"I'm real excited about our chances of winning this tournament and seeing what we can do in state," Ogborn said.
