Tyler Logas makes a throw during the Kingman High School Baseball Classic on March 7 at KHS. Logas gave up just one base hit for KHS in a game suspended due to darkness Monday at Wickenburg with the score tied 3-3.
KINGMAN - Transportation issues left the Kingman High baseball team's game at Wickenburg tied after six innings Monday, 3-3.
Kingman's bus broke down on the way to Wickenburg, which caused the game to start 1 hour, 15 minutes late. The game tentatively is to be resumed when the Wranglers visit the Bulldogs April 14 at KHS.
After dealing with the stress caused by the mechanical issues, the Bulldogs got off to a slow start and fell behind, 3-0. That was the score in the top of the fifth when Kingman's bats finally awoke.
Three consecutive base hits by Joemar Bautista, Aaron Hurt and Tyler Logas accounted for two runs, and Lukas Butler later scored on "smart, heads-up base running to tie the game," according to KHS coach Chad Baitinger.
Logas pitched all six innings for the Bulldogs and surrendered just one base hit. All three Wickenburg runs were unearned.
Kingman (0-3) faces Kingman Academy (6-1) at 3:45 p.m. today at Southside Park. The two teams met at KHS March 18 with Kingman Academy getting the win, 13-10.
