Desirae Gonzalez puts up a jump shot against Mohave Feb. 7 for the Kingman High Lady Bulldogs at KHS. The sophomore was honored with a Division II All-State First Team award recently.

KINGMAN - The azcentral.com sports high school staff selected Kingman High's Desirae Gonzalez to the girls basketball Division II All-State First Team, Kingman's Taylor Reed to the girls D-II Honorable Mention list, and Kingman Academy's Tarik Skubal to the boys D-III Honorable Mention list recently.

The three standouts were selected to the American Family Insurance All-USA Arizona and All-State teams as representatives of being the best players in their respective divisions. Azcentral.com consulted coaches and used statistics and observations in making their selections.

Gonzalez, a sophomore, averaged 18.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Reed, a senior, averaged 16.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game. Both were instrumental in leading the Lady Bulldogs to the state quarterfinals this season.

Gonzalez was also in the running for D-II Player of the Year. That award went to Seton Catholic's Julia Barcello. Seton Catholic won the D-II girls state championship.

Skubal, a senior, averaged 11.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game for the Tigers. He helped lead the Tigers to the Round of 16 in the Division III state tournament in Kingman Academy's inaugural season in the AIA.
