KINGMAN - The Kingman Academy softball team put together eight base hits and a walk in the top of the sixth to begin a heroic comeback after trailing Wickenburg (3-5, 0-3 S2) to start the inning Friday, 8-1. The Lady Tigers added two more in the seventh to win the Division III, Section 2 game, 9-8.

Madison McKowan, Destinee Haren-Ralph, Dakota Parker and Ashteyn Whirlow all doubled in the six-run sixth inning. Ashlea Tomlinson smacked a triple, and Kylie Tomlinson and Kiersten Kinsey singled. Tara Sherwood drew the walk.

In the seventh, Kingman Academy (5-2, 2-1 S2) completed the comeback when Sherwood doubled, scored on another Ashlea Tomlinson triple, who then scored on sister Kylie's double.

Kingman Academy faced Division II Flagstaff (2-2) Tuesday in Flagstaff. Results were not available by deadline. The Lady Tigers resume their Section 2 schedule today against Estrella Foothills (5-2, 1-1) in Goodyear.

Lady Bulldogs drop two

KINGMAN - Mohave and Lake Havasu both posted eight runs that were good enough for wins over the Kingman High softball team in the span of four days.

Havasu (2-4) used a three-run sixth to distance itself from Kingman (1-6) Friday in Lake Havasu, 8-5. Mohave (8-0) scored eight to put away the Lady Bulldogs Monday in Bullhead City, 8-5.

Kingman faced Parker (1-6) Tuesday in Parker. Results were not available by deadline. The Lady Bulldogs open their D-II, Section 5 schedule at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Bradshaw Mountain (3-4) in Prescott Valley.

Kingman boys tennis shut out again

KINGMAN - It hasn't been the easiest of weeks for the Kingman High boys tennis team, and it's not going to get any easier for the Bulldogs.

After getting shut out by No. 5 Bradshaw Mountain last Thursday, Kingman (1-4) experienced it again against No. 9 Prescott (7-0) Monday in Prescott, 9-0.

Kingman next plays at No. 2 Lake Havasu (8-0) Thursday, and then opens its D-II, Section 3 schedule at Bradshaw Mountain (7-0) on Tuesday. Following that, the Bulldogs host Prescott on April 10.

Kingman currently sits at No. 40 in the D-II rankings. In order to get to the playoffs, the Bulldogs must finish in the top 16 or win the Section 3 championship.
