KINGMAN - Two losses over the weekend caused the Kingman Academy softball team to tumble down the state rankings. By losing to Yuma Catholic 11-1 Friday and to Buckeye 11-0 at Centennial Park on Monday, the Lady Tigers most likely won't hear their name announced when the Division III state tournament bracket is announced by the AIA on Thursday.
Kingman Academy (8-9, 3-6 S2) was sitting at No. 26 prior to Friday's games but are now ranked No. 34. The top-24 teams get a bid into the state playoffs.
The Lady Tigers closed out the regular season against No. 54 Parker (1-16) on Tuesday. The two teams met earlier in the season with Kingman Academy pulverizing the Lady Broncs, 28-2. Results were not available by deadline.
