KINGMAN - The Kingman Academy High baseball team scored 17 first-inning runs and belted out 20 hits to end its regular season with 23-0 win at Parker Tuesday. It was the fifth consecutive win for the Tigers, who are now preparing for the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division III State Tournament.
Kingman Academy (14-4, 7-2 S2) finished in second place in the Section 2 race, two games behind Northwest Christian.
Westin McCord led the Tigers with four base hits, and Cody Quick added three. McCord's knocks included a double and a triple. He scored five runs and drove in three.
Quick had a double, and he scored three times and had an RBI.
T.J. Pena picked up the win. He gave up three hits, struck out eight and didn't allow a walk.
Kingman Academy picked up its 21st overall win of the season with the victory. The Tigers open the state tournament Saturday, either at 4 or 6:30 p.m. at the Surprise Sports Complex. Kingman Academy is currently ranked No. 13, and the AIA is scheduled to release its final seedings and brackets at 2:30 p.m. today.
