KINGMAN - After a slow start because of Friday evening's and Saturday morning's monsoon, the John Bathauer Memorial Softball Tournament heated up with 24 teams in three divisions competing in double-elimination formats. The event is a fundraiser for college scholarships given to high school students based on a written essay and need.

In the Upper Division, Prime's Overrated and Remax were both 2-0 and set to play for the winner's bracket championship. Cleats & Cleavage, Hard Knocks, 3rd Place, and RU Nutts (all 1-1) were still alive. Final results from the tournament were not available by deadline.

In the Middle Division, Northwest Security and Heavy Metal Gym were 2-0, and Anytime Fitness and Karnack Corporation were 1-1.

In the Lower Division, Dream Team (3-0) made it to the championship round. They were to play either D&G Towing (2-1), Monkey Butts (2-1) or Scared Hitless (2-1) in the final.

The games were delayed for about one to two hours as the city parks department readied the fields after the storm.
