Golden Valley runner wins muddy race

Andrew Jenks, 16, of Golden Valley finished first in the 10K event at the Extreme Gladiator Mud Run in Fort Mohave April 20.

The course had 25 obstacles, including hay bale jumps, rock climbing walls, sandy hills, water slides, rings and a section that required crawling through mud under barbed wire.

Jenks lost his shoes in a mud obstacle about one mile into the race and completed the remainder of the race barefooted.

Jenks, a Kingman High School cross country and track and field team member, finished with a time of 54 minutes.

Way to go Andrew! That is quite the accomplishment especially without your shoes. I am really proud of you.
