KINGMAN - A Golden Valley woman and her boyfriend were arrested on drug charges and warrants on Christmas Day after the woman allegedly stole $30 from three of her four young children who received $10 apiece from their grandparents.

Amanda Sue Rick, 31, and Cruz Alberto Ruvalcaba, 29, both of Golden Valley, were taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to a theft report at a residence in the 4300 block of Roosevelt Street.

The grandparents told deputies they had given each of their four grandchildren $10 for Christmas. Rick and Ruvalcaba were at the home for a short period before leaving on foot.

The grandparents subsequently learned Rick took the money given to the three youngest children, who live with their father, and called law enforcement.

A short time later, deputies located the pair one block away. A record check showed Rick was wanted on four misdemeanor warrants issued by Kingman Municipal Court, one for probation violation and three for failure to pay fines. Ruvalcaba was wanted on a probation violation and a failure to pay fines warrant issued by Kingman Municipal Court.

They were taken into custody and a search reportedly revealed both were in possession of syringes.

Rick told deputies the younger children gave her the $30 so she and Ruvalcaba could get a motel room.

They were taken into custody without incident.

“Fife Symington was a creep and all of DPS was glad to see him go because now, That's a Criminal Mr. Moore.”

Exactly when did I say anything about Fife Symington? As to his status as a “criminal.” With the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals overturning his 1997 conviction it negates him being an actual criminal. So your claim that he is a criminal is… well you know, as usual.

Gov. Hull as secretary of state replaced Fife Symington when he was forced to resign after felony conviction. She won the term and is known for signing into law the "alt fuel" bill that was to cost Ariz. $10million and became a scandal for her in 2000 as the program cost Ariz. $200million and legislators got the rules changed. Her "accomplishment" was signing the death warrants for two foreign nationals despite international pressure from Germany for a stay.
Fife Symington was a creep and all of DPS was glad to see him go because now, That's a Criminal Mr. Moore.

Do you think this is the only parents that have taken or borrowed $$ from kids. Think about it. Whats fearful is the ability of the government to come in and separate parents from kids and then jail them. We have the worst broken families in the whole world. And we are one of the riches nations.

“State aide and cohabitation laws should be enforced.”

Good grief! First I can find no laws in Arizona regarding “aides.”

And as to the other ridiculous statement, let’s consider the facts - On 8 May 8 Arizona Governor Jane Dee Hull signed into law a bill that repealed a ban on sodomy, oral sex and cohabitation.

The Governor stated in her letter to the Speaker of the House, "The laws that are repealed by HB 2016 are unenforced and unenforceable. Keeping archaic laws on the books does not promote high moral standards instead it teaches the lesson that laws are made to be broken.”

The Governor went on to say that "People should not interpret my signature on this bill as a signal that I condone all of the conduct that this bill makes lawful I don't. But I choose not to judge the conduct of others, even when I know others will judge me.”

This is another of those “mind your own business” things that self-identified Christians have a difficult problem living up to.

I cant believe the grandmother wasting the cops time over a lousy 30 bucks! Seems to me they have alot of other things more important to contend with then to want to screw with something as measley as this. Same goes for the grandmother!

These kind of women have been out and about for far too long. Amazed me females with children and the father (boyfriend) of her children would rush to the jail to put money on His book before making sure the kids' needs were met. Use to tell to keep it for their children, that's who the state intended it for.
Some were afraid not to put it on the book due to outside friends of inmate and intimidation, other females just plain Stupid!
State aide and cohabitation laws should be enforced.

Shouldn't the daily miner be reporting on the terrible economy in Mojave county. Or something more news worthy then a parent spending their children's Christmas money. Its not news.

@ Edward Tomchin: I agree that I doubt the theft of the $30 will come to any charges (although it's a low move),. That said, It sounds as if the mother does not have custody and the children are living with their father. As such, she likely does not have a right to take anything from them.

A clear case for enforced sterilization, this "Mother" does not need to have any more children. I have no doubt it's not married, on food stamps, and collecting every benefit it can get. While wasting our tax dollars on drugs.

Any actions this type of ilk demonstrates no longer shocks me, I have lived here for 4 years and realize that this type of person is capable of stealing from grandparents, parents, children and babies. Given the opportunity they will also rob from the dead and yet to be born.

Regardless, they are going to jail for other reasons. But the charge of stealing from their children is bogus. Unless a court has declared the children emancipated minors or has appointed a guardian over them, the kids have no right to own anything. It is all legally owned by the parents. Taking money from your child is lawful, not illegal.

I cant believe any mother would take from there children. Then allow the boyfriend to take the money is beyond me. The grandparents did a good job. Don't let these low life's take advantage of any kids.
