From left to right, Josephine Brandt, 8, Eva Amenhauser, 5, and Keara Kennedy, 6, jump rope at Kingman Academy of Learning Primary School on Tuesday. They were some of the participants in the school’s “Jump Rope for Heart” program in February, which raised money for the American Heart Association. February is American Heart Month and physical education teacher Pam Olney puts on the fundraiser at KAOL Primary and Intermediate Schools, raising almost $10,000 each year. Olney’s father passed away from a heart attack the first year she held the event. She said that there is a lot of community support because this issue affects many people.
