Former Mayor John Salem, right, received plaques and well wishes from Mayor Janet Watson and the City Council as well as the Vietnam Veterans Association at Tuesday's meeting. Below, Watson accepts a trophy from Councilman Larry Carver on behalf of the Giants, a Kingman South Little League Minor team that won the Tournament of Champions earlier this summer.

John Salem was at the helm at the worst times in Kingman, The taxes have gone up so much that people do not want to move into the city. The Food tax the Hotel tax the Sewer tax and then seeing the city staff never get a raise. What leadership? His leadership was non existent in my opinion and the absolute blind obedience he had to the Golf course as the center of the city is astonishing. The OBN (Old Boy Network) still clings to the hardline days of the 1880s and John Salem was their enforcer. Now its Janet Watson and a hand over of the gavel of Power and Control back to the OBN.

I hope John Salem comes back at some point in the future and becomes out Mayor again...

Article comment by: John Salem For City Manager

I think he could do the job. I seen his leadership abilities as many of us have these last years. The hurdles to qualify most likely would be a challenge....but I still think he can preform the duties.
