Kingman letters: The economy is getting better

I've heard GOP presidential hopeful continually say that President Obama has made the U.S. economy worse. Although there are far too many who are still out of work, the job market has improved.

During the last year of President G.W. Bush's term the economy in recession lost 3.82 million jobs. This downturn in the job market continued during the first 14 months of President Obama's term, losing an additional 5.05 million jobs, the recession claiming a total of 8.87 million jobs! The good news is that for the last 24 months, 3.94 million jobs have been added.

The economy is getting better and not worse, and a return to the same policies that got us into this mess would slow recovery down, not make it better. I will be voting for Obama in November and look forward to an improving economy.

My god. Have you examined the pathetic jobs in the classifieds. Are you people paid by this paper to make your statements. I have looked at them. You need to take another look. If these are the only kinds of jobs there are the people looking for jobs are doomed, as they are.

Never surprises me that no matter the subject of the letter to the editor, the comments from posters on these blogs seem to inevitably delve into 'conspiracy theories' and the like instead of staying on the subject itself. Oh well.
@ J L
you write "The fact is there are no jobs. If you can tell me where they are and what industries are hiring, please let the public know."
Check out the job listings in the classified section of the KDMiner and you'll see what jobs are available locally. There are plenty.

Here's another one. The economy is getting better for the 3rd worlders who make $.50 to $5 a day in their countries. Our own government allows our country to be infested by these 3rd worlders to supply cheaper labor to the "rat" small businesses, and the corporations that use them, at our expense. They all are enriched. And we are being driven down, Oh, except for them educated people here in Kingman. They are unaffected, at least for the time being.

When they come here they make more in an hour than they do in a day in their country. (Would American Citizens love to go somewhere else and do this. Yes, we would, but we can't). Minimum wage at around $7.50 an hr vs their $.50 to $5 a day. But another HUGE problem is these, these, so called people, breed at an irresponsible, rapid rate. The millions allowed in, and the millions they birth are driving the cost up, which is INFLATION. The gov and business news CRIES how bad inflation is on one hand, and then causes it on another. This kinda madness has the subliminal effect of twisting the minds of American Citizens, which I believe is the cause of increasing crime and will eventually revolutionary war. This is in part why the dumbocratic/minority racist party wants to eliminate the 2nd Amendment, so as to cripple Americans citizens ability to revolt. The repuks r not much better than the dems.

The problem with his Obamy talking points is that none of them register on the radar screen for voters. It's a matter of political fact that Obama polls lower among the highest rated concerns among the electorate.

Hence the contrived 'war on women' fiasco.

This rate thing keeps coming up and the numbers seem to not match with what happened in our countries tax history along with improvements in our country.

In the 1950's the tax high tax rate was 90% for the higher income people. The tax rate for the average wage earner was about 20%. The rich could afford to pay more and still live excellent. While the working class didn't earn enough to pay more than the 20%. This was right after WW2. The taxes needed to pay off the war. The people who profited most paid most. The working class paid also.

In the 1960's high earners paid 70%, wage earners paid 14%. These figures remained in place until 1980.

In 1980 to 87 the tax rate for high earners dropped down to 50%. Almost double from the 90%. While the working class was dropped from 14% to 11%.

We can thank Reagan for so much of the twisted, confusing times we have gradual experienced up until our 2008 financial collapse, and our continued problems. Reagan shut down mental hospitals, etc. He accelerated the Mexican Invasion with his Amnasty, creating a Massive costly Mexican Invasion to drive down the wages of the American working class CITIZENS. This lead to even more 3rd worlders to come here to our country. His partner Margret Thatcher ushered in 3rd worlers/Muslims into England, and LOOK they have the similar huge problems.

The Reagan crowd moved the jobs that could be moved out of our country to places like China, India and Mexico. This has put our country in danger.

To stop the chaos in our country we have to get rid of the anti-homogeneous crowd, whom is the cause of the unnecessary tax burden, ie. illegal and so called legal aliens flooding into our country.

one last note - in this charged atmosphere (charged, that is, with massive Government crime), a person should be careful when using the word "shot", even euphemistically (as I did). Those Exective Orders stripping away our rights, GM foods ensuring we can't reproduce at some point, the rape of our privacy (surely this needn't be explained nowadays), etc. should all be borne - as in a courtroom - without a ruffle. Mustn't show "Contempt-of-Oppression". How about if we change the term used from "shot" to "fired"? It won't be long until that term will have prosecutable value. Welcome to the New World Order - WHERE EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE.

1) "Factory output?". Can you name the factories?

No, I cannot, but I can cite the following from the San Francisco Chronicle, 2 April 2012 “U.S. factories stepped up hiring and production in March, the latest evidence that manufacturing is growing at a healthy pace and fueling the recovery. … A measure of manufacturing employment rose to a nine-month high, a sign that factories are hiring more workers. Manufacturers are already a big source of job gains. They've added more than 100,000 jobs in the past three months, about one-seventh of all net gains.”

2) GMC- Government Motors. Government is not supposed to own private industry. Ford made it out with no stimulus money.
The government does not “own” GM, we are shareholders in the company. I suppose you would have preferred GM and Chrysler had gone bankrupt with millions of jobs being lost.

3) 95% of Americans are paying a very high rate of tax and Obama wants to raise taxes!

We are paying the lowest rate of taxes since the 1950s.

4) Al Qaeda is alive and well. It still exists.

Nowhere near the numbers and danger as existed under The Criminal.

5) Waterboarding is not illegal. It still exists and so does Guantanamo Bay.

Waterboarding has been illegal under the Geneva Convention for decades. As to G-Bay – if the Republicans would allow prisoners to be held in the U.S it could be closed.

6) Obamacare (sic) is in the hands of the Supreme Court. More government interference in Americans lives.

So sad that you do not actually understand that the Patients Protection and Affordable Health Care Act will benefit every American in a positive manner.

You have to give the loons credit for their never ending attempt to rewrite history, like this one, “Funny you want to blame Bush for the recession that started in March 2001, only 2 months after Bush took office.” Really – you believe that?

Well, how about some of those pesky facts, “The National Bureau of Economic Research said Monday that the U.S. has been in a recession since December 2007, making official what most Americans have already believed about the state of the economy. The NBER is a private group of leading economists charged with dating the start and end of economic downturns. It typically takes a long time after the start of a recession to declare its start because of the need to look at final readings of various economic measures. The NBER said that the deterioration in the labor market throughout 2008 was one key reason why it decided to state that the recession began in 2007.” (CNNMoney.com)

And once again, incorrect information has been blocked from clouding the minds of the intellectually challenged.

After watching Las Vegas police kidnap and murder people, harrassing outspoken people like myself by helicopter and home break-ins, I moved to lovely laid-back Kingman on my birthday in 2008. And everything's been just fine, really. Besides "Hell On Wheels", Tom Hanks' "Incredibly Loud..." film, "I love You Philip Morris"and - believe it or not - several other productions, Hollywood's whorring film industry (and Canada's in one case) has abstained from profiting from law enforcement's kidnapings, murders, home break-ins, false arrests, and other crimes in this area of the country. Sometimes it's hard to decide which component - judges, prosecutors, police or their criminal free-wheeling assets - should be shot first. Pardon me for leaving out the churches, film industry, and media (with the fine exception of Kingman's Daily Miner, which prints these revelations). But everything's just fine, really - somewhere in the world. Probably in some small village in Finland. From within the loop, O beknighted soon-to-be-finished-off flock.

"Stung by the reluctance of Congress to raise taxes, the Obama administration has obviously set out to use the Internal Revenue Service to do the dirty deed. President Obama has big plans for expanding the federal government once he achieves “flexibility” after the November election. The coming schemes will cost money. Since Congress won’t cooperate and the Treasury is overdrawn at the Bank of China, the only solution is confiscation. There’s still standing room on the necks of taxpayers - even widows, orphans, the disabled and the infirm, some even sick unto death."

Nice piece of paranoia there. What tax increases has Obama agreed to? Please be specific. The act you say Obama signed about jailing you for no crime was already there, it is called the Patriot Act, which we all know Obama did not create. Yes, the new act he signed did not stop it, but it only defined and added new definitions to said act. As for Gas prices, where was your outrage in 2008 when gas was over $4 and in some cases as much as $5? As for Ron Paul, that man has as much chance of becoming President as Charles Manson does of getting paroled, sorry.

Last question....so many of you were outraged by the Black Panthers and their reward offered for the Capture of George Zimmerman. Where is your outrage today when Ted Nugent publicly threatened not just Obama, but Democrats in general?

@SA
You are absolutely wrong about gov't jobs. In fact stats are private sector jobs per Labor Dept. statistics. Facts are that gov't jobs are down, not up, and gov't sector jobs would be much worse if not for stimulus money used to save jobs in state gov'ts. FYI, I have read and re-read the US Constitution many times, also researching case law re: it and this much is clear, yours or my opinions of what it means is sometimes far different than what SCOTUS says it is.
@J L
I'm not basing Obamas record on jobs, just stating the facts. But, I agree with your last sentence, "Bush wasn't even that great."

""About 90% of what's dysfunctional in our political system is voters who vote the party line.""

I would have agreed with that a few years ago, but no more. The Democrat party is now going after legislation(s) that can sweep and lock as many voters as possible under a centralized government.

(Hence the major power grab behind Obamacare.)

They have succeeded in doing so on major city levels, and even statewide levels. Look no further than California as evidence of this goal and end results.

Power comes first and foremost over ANY positive results.

And I speak of someone who left the Republican party by the '06 mid term elections.

We have 88 million not in the work force, 47 million on food stamps and both are getting bigger all the time. Our gas has risen from $1.79 to $4 a gallon under Obama. Food prices keep going up. Taxes keep going up. Homes still being repossessed by the millions. Jobs are not coming back and the few new jobs are low paying jobs. The number of poor keep increasing.
We now have laws that they can jail you forever or kill you with no trial which Obama signed. Obama renewed an executive order that can take all you own with no trial.
So I only see things getting worse.
I will vote for the only person who follows the constitution and that is Ron Paul.
